To be Impressionable, Dynamic, and Impactful in God: Mentally, Physically, and Spiritually as a Life Changer.
“THEREFORE I, WE , US ,PRESS”
( But it All, starts with You!)
Toward the Unmoveable Mark
Philippians 3:14
Deep within the human spirit is a desire and a capability to do what is wonderful. Because we are made in the image of God, we inherited from him the desire to create, to accomplish, and to make things happen. And God has given us some of the means to carry out these desires. These means are called abilities, gifts, or talents. God has given them to us to help us do great things for him and to live a fulfilling life. How we use or misuse these abilities ultimately determines the quality of our lives—quality being defined not as comfort or the accumulation of wealth or possessions, but as character, joy, and lasting satisfaction. Our responsibility is to discover our abilities, then to develop them, and finally to channel them toward what is good, helpful, productive, and God-honoring. As we obediently exercise and develop our abilities, God’s purpose for their uses becomes clear, and we get a glimpse into what God can do through us
1 Corinthians 12:6
God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.
Our talents, abilities, and gifts are not random or accidental; they are part of the way God has uniquely designed us. God gave Bezalel talents as a craftsman and commissioned him to create beautiful objects for the Tabernacle. God most often does his work on earth through people, so he gives each person special gifts and talents. Every ability is useful to God, so we should use them for him. What talents has God given you? These abilities may become your full-time job, or they may simply be hobbies. Either way, God can use them to accomplish his purposes. To use what we enjoy doing to serve God is exciting and deeply satisfying.
Adversity comes with a multitude of names—accidents, afflictions, bereavement, calamities, difficulties, disappointments, disasters, failures, hard times, hurts, miseries, misfortunes, reverses, ruin, sufferings, tragedies, trials, troubles, tribulations, or woes. Sometimes adversity comes unexpectedly and sometimes it comes after repeated warnings. Adversities may be temporarily discomforting or permanently disabling, even life-threatening or life-taking. Some adversities are merely higher hurdles over which we can climb with a little more effort, while others permanently wound us, forcing us to find a way to triumph despite them. Adversity literally means “something acting against you.”
Nowhere is this concept more clearly presented than in the Bible. The Bible describes how we bring adversity on ourselves by acting foolishly or sinfully. God himself sometimes sends adversity, either as a punishment for sin or simply as a way to test and strengthen our character. Other times, Satan sends adversity to try to get us to sin. Finally, there is the adversity that comes from the poor decisions or sins of others. The one thing we can count on about adversity is that it will come. The question is, what we will do with it when it arrives?
1 Peter 5:7
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you
Appreciation means recognizing and being grateful for something or someone. For example, we can appreciate fine art, a moving musical performance, an excellent meal, a spectacular view. Often appreciation is relational; that is, we can appreciate a person’s character qualities, intellect, talents, sense of humor, and more. However, true appreciation is not merely an objective evaluation; it is linked to our gratitude.
Psalm 92:1-2
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to the Most High. It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the evening.
Amid the wonder of Christmas, one truth shines bright: God came to be with us. The birth of Jesus is a beautiful reminder of God’s immeasurable love for the world. Just as parents bring a child into their family and treasure them, God sent His Son to bring us into His family and delight in us. Just as parents provide care, guidance, and blessing to their children, God offers us His presence, peace, and joy through Jesus—gifts that last far beyond the Christmas season.
How can I Keep my focus on Jesus when the season feels so busy?
Luke 10:41
But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
Jesus gently reminds Mary not to get lost in the details. Like Mary, we also must resist the pressure to focus on the wrong things this season. If holiday busyness or pressure overwhelms you, pause, sit in His presence, and let Him help you focus on what truly matters this Christmas.
Depression
At some point in our lives, many of us experience some form of depression. It can descend slowly, like the approach of an all-day rain. It can overwhelm like a flood of darkness. It can be the result of a real situation of failure or loss, or it can invade our minds for no discernible reason. Everyone experiences sadness, but not all sadness is depression. Sadness is often circumstantial. Depression can come from circumstances, genetics, and a variety of other factors—but it is defined as a long-term state and an ongoing struggle. It can affect our sleep patterns, our appetites, our ability to concentrate, our willingness to socialize, our sense of self-worth, and in severe cases, even our will to live. The Bible records several people who experienced one form of depression or another and were still loved and used by God. Some parts of Scripture were written by authors struggling with depression, including some of David’s psalms and Jeremiah’s prophecies. The good news is that God does not regard depression as sin, nor does he take it lightly. Rather, he responds to those who suffer its darkness with great tenderness, understanding, and compassion.
What makes me vulnerable to depression?
Hebrews 10:25
Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
Loneliness often leads to depression, and depression often leads to self-isolation, creating a vicious cycle. Without the encouraging presence of friends, family, and fellow believers, we are vulnerable to Satan’s attacks and the dark emotions that follow from them.
God Promise!
Isaiah 43:1-3
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God.”
When our strength fails and we grow weary and discouraged, we need someone to come alongside us, show understanding, cheer us up, and inspire us to keep going. When bills pile up and money runs short, we need someone to help us, not tell us how we messed up. When we become a single parent and the world seems against us, we need words and deeds that will give us the motivation to stay strong. When friends or family turn against us, we need a good comforter. Encouragers help us regain commitment, resolve, and motivation. They inspire us with courage and hope. They help us love and live again. Encouragers bring a beautiful gift—often a spiritual gift—when they renew us with their encouragement.
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.
